Gunbrella
The Summer of Demos - Day Twenty-Two

It’s an old story - they took everything from you and you want full-leaded revenge. Difference is this time, your trusty firearm doubles as an umbrella.
In Gunbrella you wander from town to town as a nameless woodsman, solving their problems so you can ride the rails further. You ask everyone who’ll give you the time of day about the titular weapon - found outside of your blood-soaked home - and inch closer to tracking down the people who killed your family.

It’s a pretty good weapon, with unlimited ammunition and just as many ways to use the umbrella component : block bullets, pogo jump, glide, airdash and more! Chaining the airdashes with wall jumps can get you to the perfect vantage point to rain grenades on cult members if you have them. It is a sidescroller but you can point your weapon in any direction on that plane with the right stick or mouse for precise aiming.
If you take too much damage from enemy fire - or literal fire spread from igniting an oil barrel - you can heal all damage by applying a bandage or gain an extra heart (but not heal damage) by eating food.
Journey from town to town in a crumbling world dependent on “crude” as you seek answers and bloodshed, but maybe not in that order.
In a word : bucketing.

This article is part of the Summer of Demos series, where I’ll be releasing a Demo Diving preview article each day in July. If you liked this article, be sure to share it with a friend or enemy. If you back me on Patreon, you get access to articles one day before they release anywhere else. If we reach £25/month before the end of July, I’ll extend the Summer of Demos into August.
